Bodywork final fit, finish and paint

Final finish for the bodywork is a mix of two pack paint, brushed aluminium and vinyl wrap.  Because the fibreglass panels required a lot of work to achieve a satisfactory fit and blemish free surface, and I didn’t want to scratch the final finish during assembly, they were painted in two pack first and then allowed to thoroughly cure.  It was only after the Locost clubman was registered that it received its final two pack paint job in Ford Bionic Blue.  The aluminium panels were given a “brushed” appearance by finishing them with a kitchen scouring pad, which is easily maintained by occasionally running a scourer pad over them.

I hadn’t used vinyl wrap before, but after seeing some excellent applications I thought the carbon fibre wrap would offer something a bit different and applied it to the tailamp monts and the interior dash etc.
